Kim joined the Alabama Water Institute in April 2025 as Communications Specialist III. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration with emphasis in marketing from Mississippi State University in 1998 and her master’s degree in business administration from Otterbein College in 2004. She reports directly to AWI’s director of research institute communications.

In her role, she is responsible for writing articles and press releases for AWI, as well as managing multi-channel communication strategies, including internal and external newsletters, social media and multimedia content for the institute.

Her professional career spans 20 plus years. She served as owner and creative director of a small marketing firm from 2008 to 2025, where she specialized in marketing strategy, photography, videography and physical and digital product design, including authoring two books and having her company’s work featured in six print magazines. Under her leadership, she grew the company’s social media influence to over 135,000 across platforms.

Before her entrepreneurial venture, she worked at JPMorgan Chase as vice president of investment marketing from 1999 to 2008, supporting mutual fund managers and investment advisors as well as managing broker dealer communications. Her expertise in both corporate and creative environments, combined with her proven track record in building brand presence, brings valuable perspective to AWI’s communications strategy.
