Brock joined the Alabama Water Institute in February 2018. He earned his bachelor’s degree in telecommunication and film from The University of Alabama in 2004 and his master’s degree in journalism and media studies from UA in 2024. In addition to writing most press releases and stories related to the AWI, he hosts the institute’s podcast, creates and edits videos, maintains the social media accounts and assists affiliated faculty members with proofreading and editing grant and academic proposals.
His media career began in radio in 1992 prior to and while serving in the U.S. Air Force. After leaving the military in 1998, he continued working in radio before transitioning to a television reporter in 2002 at WVUA-TV. While a student at UA, he won the 2003 Alabama Associated Press Class III Best Reporter professional award. After graduating, he was the east Alabama reporter for WTVM-9 until 2008 when he accepted a multimedia specialist position at Auburn University before returning home to his alma mater a decade later.
