Project Coordinator – Alabama Water Institute – 521547

AWI is seeking a full-time Project Coordinator to join the AWI Project Management team. This position will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the NOAA Cooperative Institute for Research to Operations in Hydrology (CIROH) and is expected to primarily lead coordination, administration, organization, and internal communication efforts. The project coordinator will also assist with program management efforts to support adherence with federal, state, and organizational reporting requirements.

Assistant Research Professional – Regional Drought Information Coordinator – 521206

AWI is seeking a Assistant Research Professional to serve as a research liaison and coordinate with a team to advance NIDIS and OWP through a number of strategies: Supporting stakeholder engagement to inform service delivery at the National Weather Service and the National Water Center related to hydrological drought and low-flow events, including the Next Generation National Water Model. Supporting the delivery of hydrological prediction services to key DEWS stakeholders including state drought monitoring teams, water supply managers, natural resource managers, and federal partners. Developing the leadership and networks to implement an integrated drought monitoring, forecasting, and planning and preparedness system in the Southeast region. Fostering and supporting a research environment focusing on risk assessment, planning, forecasting, monitoring, impact collection and analysis, and mitigation. Contributing to a drought early warning system to provide accurate, timely, and integrated information specific to regional needs and economic sectors. Developing content and interactive components for the U.S. Drought Portal (drought.gov), as part of the drought early warning information system, including hydrologic information.

Assistant Research Professional – Geospatial Intelligence Analyst – 521443

The Geospatial Intelligence Analyst (GIA) will be a key member of GWSC’s water/environmental security analysis team. The applicant will provide core analytical expertise and customized visualization insights using appropriate spatial modeling tools and methods. By transforming data into actionable insights and solutions, GWSC aims to produce data, information and knowledge to provide water/environmental security situational awareness to help institutions understand how water affects livelihoods, health, economy and ecosystems. These analyses will focus on strategic/geopolitical freshwater shortages and surpluses, water quality, climatic stresses, and political instability. Analysis will cover large geographic areas (e.g., global or continental scale), and use data derived from satellite remote sensing, geospatial analysis, and quantitative environmental, social, political, economic indicators.
